Bordello Theatre are currently artists in residence for ‘LGBT+: Within and Beyond’ a project created and organised by Lakeland Arts. The project aims to uncover the history of Cumbria’s LGBT+ community. The project’s exhibition runs from 12th of October 2019 to 1st of February 2020 at The Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry in Kendal.
As artists in residence we have been working closely with Lakeland Arts and have offered various pieces of work for the project. Bordello performed a bespoke version of ‘The Pilgrims’ within the Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry (MOLLI). We also delivered the ‘MOLLI Salon’ a 21st century LGBT+ enlightenment salon. This was a unique opportunity for LGBT+ people and their allies to discuss, dissect, explore and share their personal stories, objects and experiences. In the temporary display Bordello Theatre have pieces of spoken word and sound art as well as visual art being exhibited.
